Counselling is available to adults who are experiencing psychological and emotional distress in their lives as a result of their own life limiting illness or the illness of someone significant to them.
The diagnosis of a life limiting illness can be a tremendous shock, shifting our sense of safety and security both physically and emotionally. The treatment for cancer and other illnesses can be debilitating and raise issues around loss and adjustment. Body image and disability can become major factors that affect your life. Depression and anxiety are very common problems, not just for patients but also for their families.
Talking therapy can help you to see your problems clearly and help you to work through worries and concerns in a private and confidential ‘space’ where you will be listened to, respected and valued without judgement.
Springhill Hospice has a team of trained and highly skilled counsellors, supported by qualified volunteer counsellors and trainee counsellors. Within the team we are able to offer several different psychological approaches to help people and, through assessment, we can tailor-make your therapy plan to support you and meet your goals. Counselling could include Person-Centred Therapy, Integrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
Relaxation and meditation are recognised for their contribution to well-being and symptom control especially anxiety, stress and sleep difficulties and we have two tracks you can download them below.
