I’m Cora, the proud ‘clog wearer’ of Springhill Hospice.
This Christmas marks my 35th year with the Hospice, and I’ve cherished every moment. My journey began with the first cut of the sod of the Hospice, where I then started my 10-year volunteering journey before becoming a Nursing Assistant in 1999, a dream come true. Springhill means everything to me.
I often wish the Hospice had been here when my Mum was battling cancer. I remember our difficult trips to The Christie on public transport when she was so unwell, as we didn’t have a car. That personal experience is what first led me to get involved with the Hospice, in the hopes of supporting my local community.
For many patients, like you’ll read with Sophia’s Nana Bridie, the Inpatient Unit becomes their Christmas home. For others, their greatest wish is to spend Christmas morning at home with their loved ones. And when that’s the case, we pull out all the stops to make it happen.
We provide care to patients in their own homes on Christmas Day to make sure they can fully enjoy the festive fun. Whether it’s Christmas dinner, a game of charades, or simply sharing precious laughter and time with their loved ones.
However, we can only continue making these Christmas wishes come true with the support and generosity from our community, who have had the Hospice in their hearts for the past 35 years.
You have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference and we warmly invite you to join our community of supporters. Every contribution helps us to continue providing vital care to those who need it most.
